Today, most diffusers are manufactured from plastic. In my view, this material conflicts with the restorative atmosphere the product is intended to evoke. My motivation was to align the material language of the product with its purpose and use.

Terracotta — one of humanity's oldest building materials — not only brings a sense of visual weight to the design, but lends the tactile experience a distinctive depth and intentionality. The interaction has been reduced to its purest form. A single press of the start button is all it takes to activate the diffuser, after which the user can select from a range of run cycles.

All diffusers feature a reservoir housing the aromatic liquid. Over time, this vessel tends to become adhesive, as the concentration of residue increases during the evaporation process. In my solution, the reservoir connects to the base via a bayonet mount — a tool-free, detachable joint that enables effortless cleaning and maintenance.
